A Vienna figure of a Savoyard Puppeteer, modelled by Dannhauser, the street performer shown with bagpipes and his puppets or marionettes at his feet, controlled by his left foot.
Mark: Bindenschild or blue behive.
c.1765-70
H: 8.5", 20.8 cm

The Savoyard or Piedmontese shepherds used to come down to the plains in winter to entertain with their music and marionettes.
